Privacy Policy

Hokum ("the app") is a card game published by Everopen. You can play entirely offline against computer-controlled bots without an account, or sign in to play online multiplayer with other people. This policy explains what data the app collects in each case.
Offline play
Offline play against the bots does not require an account, sign-up, or login, and does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information or gameplay data. That gameplay happens entirely on your device.
Accounts and sign-in
Online multiplayer requires signing in with a third-party provider — currently Google or Apple. When you sign in, we receive and store basic profile information from that provider (such as your name, email address, and profile photo) to create your Hokum account and profile. We use this to identify you to other players (via a display name and avatar) and to let you resume your account across devices. We don't receive or store your password — sign-in is handled directly by Google or Apple.
Multiplayer and gameplay data
To run online matches, we process data such as your display name, avatar, match history, matchmaking activity, and in-game actions (like cards played and invites sent to partners). Your display name and avatar are visible to other players you're matched or seated with.
Voice chat
Multiplayer tables offer optional voice chat with your partner or table. Voice audio is transmitted between players to enable real-time conversation; we do not record or store voice chat content. If you report another player, the details you provide in that report are retained to review and act on the report.
Purchases and virtual currency
Hokum may offer optional in-app purchases (such as a virtual currency used for cosmetics or entry to certain tables) and optional rewarded ads. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google through their own payment systems — we don't receive or store your payment card details. If rewarded ads are shown, the ad provider may process limited technical data (like a device or advertising identifier) under its own privacy policy to serve and measure ads; ads are opt-in and never required to play.
Third-party services
We use Supabase to host our backend, database, and authentication, and Google and Apple for sign-in. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. The app does not integrate advertising or tracking SDKs beyond what's described above, and Expo's standard app-update service is used solely to deliver bug-fix updates.
Data retention and your choices
We retain account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app or by emailing us, which removes your profile and personal data from our systems, other than records we're required to keep for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Children's privacy
Hokum is not directed at children, and online multiplayer accounts require users to be at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
As Hokum adds or changes features that affect what data is collected, we'll update this policy before or as that feature ships, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the change.
